jay dockins’ august 2014 rock of israel newsletter

Shalom Haverim! (Hello Friends)

Jay and Kim Dockins

Jay and Kim Dockins

August has arrived and I like it, so far! The weather here in the South has been unseasonably pleasant and, to my knowledge, we have not hit or surpassed the century mark temperature-wise! That is truly unusual but I will take it!

August brings a flurry of ministry activity for me. I will be traveling to Springfield, Missouri, for the Assemblies of God Centennial Celebration which will be held August 7-10. Rock of Israel Ministries will have a booth in the exhibit area during this event! We will be there to share about the ministry and to provide resources for ministry to Jewish people and items which visitors to the booth might wish to purchase. All proceeds from our sales go to funding our outreaches and evangelism among the Jewish people of America!

On August 10 I will be slipping out of Springfield and traveling to Springfield, Illinois, where I will take up my position at the Rock of Israel booth at the State Fair. This is the first time that Rock of Israel will have a booth at this fair and I am excited about the opportunity! The responsibility for arranging our participation at this fair was assigned to me late last year and is my first such assignment! From application process to the final logistics, the responsibility has been mine. I trust that everything will go well but, if it does, I cannot take all of the credit. Doug Carmel, a fellow Rock of Israel Staff Member, will deserve much of the credit for a successful event. Doug will set up the booth and get our participation off to a good start by manning the booth for the first three days while I am in Missouri! He has been an invaluable asset and help to me in every area, as have our office staff, Debbie Hicks and Monica Bishop! Thank you all for your help!

The ministry of Rock of Israel and our missionaries could not go on without those who support us financially on a regular basis. We are very mindful of that and appreciate every church and individual that supports us! On the last weekend of July, Kim and I were privileged to speak at one of our supporting churches in South Arkansas and to visit with some of long time individual Parkers Chapel Assembly of God in El Dorado, Arkansas allowed us the privilege of ministering the Word while their pastor, Steve Moss and his family, were on vacation! We, as always, enjoyed our visit with this dear congregation and the Lord met with us there! Thank you for the privilege of ministering to your congregation, Brother Steve!

Long time friends and supporters, James and Betty Berry and Jay!

Long time friends and supporters, James and Betty Berry and Jay!

Between services we had the opportunity to have lunch and visit with James and Betty Berry, former parishioners and faithful supporters of the work of Rock of Israel Ministries! These dear friends took us to lunch and then to their house for a relaxing afternoon visit! Thank you, James and Betty, for your hospitality!

In our evangelism efforts, we are beginning to get a lot of questions about the events occurring in the Middle East. It seems that everyone wants to know about and/or discuss the conflict between Israel and Hamas and their battles centered in the Gaza Strip. While these are important issues and are certainly relevant to the days in which we live, I try to not get too involved discussing them. It is not that I think them unimportant, but that I have much more important things to share than my opinion or view on the turbulence in the Middle East. Our focus is on the Good News! That is what we endeavor to spend our time sharing! And that is the reason that Rock of Israel exists!

Rock of Israel exists to share Jesus as the Jewish Messiah. We share with Jewish people that their Messiah has come and will soon return! What more important message could we share? Jesus is the Messiah! That is the Heart of our Message and Ministry! He came to save sinners, forgive them of their sin and give them eternal life! And He is Coming Back! He came the first time to suffer, die and take away sin! He will come the second time to rule and reign! The Messiah will soon return! Everyone needs to hear the message, repent of their sin and be ready for His return! I am too busy sharing this message to spend a lot of time talking about what is going on now!

We believe that Jesus will return soon! (You can check last month’s post if you want more specifics about what I believe.) We must not be sidetracked by side issues from sharing the Good News with those who need to hear it! We must be sharing the Good News! Time is running out!

A Couple of Reminders!
We can always use your prayers as we endeavor to spread the Good News!
“Finally, brothers, pray for us that the Lord’s message may spread rapidly and receive honor, just as it did with you;” 2 Thessalonians 3:1 (Complete Jewish Bible)
Pray for Israel and the situation in the Middle East!
“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.” Psalm 122:6 (KJV)
