jay dockins’ june 2013 rock of israel newsletter

Shalom Haverim! (Hello Friends!)

May was another busy month for us, not so much service-wise but in preparation for travel and ministry which will occur during these summer months. We did have two services but most of our efforts went toward the upcoming summer efforts.

I had the privilege of ministering at First Assembly of God in Morrilton, Arkansas at a service honoring Israel. It was the first such service for the church and I believe that it was an eye-opener for many in the congregation. I ministered on the promise of God in Genesis 12:1-3, to bless Abram and those who bless Abram and his seed. It was a time of challenging each believer to bless the seed of Abraham, the Jewish people, but to also believe God for the promises which they had received of Him!

On Pentecost Sunday, we traveled to Gentry, Arkansas, for a service at First Assembly of God. Pastor Wes Bennett and his congregation were a delight to minister to! The people were very receptive and listened intently as I ministered on the purpose and promise of Pentecost. It is not just about speaking in other tongues (although that certainly is a vital part), but it is about the veracity of God and His word in His dealings with His people! The service is one which I will not soon forget as was the fellowship with the Bennett’s after the service! We are thankful for long-time friends like the Bennett’s who have been faithful supporters and friends of Rock of Israel for years!

My summer is full of evangelism and representing Rock of Israel Ministries at conventions. I have already attended two of the conventions with two more yet to come! There are also upcoming outreaches in Washington, D.C. and Toronto, Canada! All of these opportunities are precious to me because I get to share the gospel and talk about what God is doing among the Jewish people! Work isn’t the only thing on the agenda for the summer. Very shortly, Kim and I will be leaving for a week along the Gulf Coast! We are looking forward to putting our toes in the sand, our feet in the water and our minds in neutral for a few days! Don’t worry about me going soft, I will be preaching twice while we are gone! Nothing like a working vacation!

Please be in prayer for the upcoming outreaches in Washington, D.C. and Toronto! Also pray for my health during this very busy and tiring summer schedule!

Jewish Vocabulary
This month’s word is actually a phrase: “Boker Tov!” means “good morning!” The return of the same greeting is proper when one is greeted in this manner. So, surprise a Jewish friend or astound someone who is not Jewish with your newly acquired knowledge!
