jay dockins’ january 2013 rock of israel newsletter

Shalom Haverim,

Happy New Year! Can you believe that it is actually 2013? The year that the world didn’t know whether it would arrive or not (Have you already forgotten about the Mayans and their calendar?) is here and in full swing! The holidays are over, students are back in school and everyone is trying to write and/or type 2013 instead of 2012 on all types of documents! Yes, the new year is here and it is time to get back down to business!

December was a good month for us (as Decembers go). December is traditionally a very difficult time for itinerant ministers to schedule services because of the flurry of special services which usually pack church schedules. The Lord allowed us two weekends of ministry in December and we enjoyed them immensely! Early in the month, we had the privilege of ministering for Kim’s brother, Steve Woods, in his church in Ripley, Tennessee! We had a delightful time and, of course, enjoyed the visit with Steve and his family! On the last Sunday of the month, we were privileged to minister at First Assembly of God, Morrilton, Arkansas! Pastor Joe Alzate and his congregation were so receptive to the ministry which the Lord allowed us to present. Five people were saved on Sunday morning and the Sunday night service was a great time of teaching! Thank the Lord for these opportunities! We wish that they could all be as good as these!

January will be a busy month for us! We will have services in Conway, Delaware and Monticello, Arkansas as well as in Mount Pleasant, Texas! On the 28th, I will fly out to West Palm Beach to serve in the Rock of Israel booth at the South Florida Fair! It will be a busy month, but I really look forward to the opportunities which are ahead!

Speaking of opportunities, I still have some Spring dates open in my schedule which would be ideal for Passover Seder services! If your church has never experienced a Messianic Passover Seder I can assure you that you are missing a blessing! The service is rich with blessing as the pictures which are presented in the Seder point vividly to Jesus, the Lamb of God! Pastors, if you are looking for a service which will enrich your congregation’s appreciation for what Jesus has done for us and give your people a deep appreciation for the meaning of the Communion service, you should seriously consider hosting a Seder in your church this Spring! For more information simply follow this shortlink:http://wp.me/1EPGb and scroll down to the section titled, “Let me tell you about the Messianic Passover Seder!” Then call me and schedule a Seder for your church!

I usually devote a portion of my monthly newsletter to teaching on some subject or topic. This month I want to share some facts which I “borrow” from fellow Rock of Israel Staff Member, Doug Carmel, who published the following in his monthly newsletter. The blessing of the Lord has rested upon His people, the Jewish people, who He has made a blessing to the world.

Fact: Jews comprise a mere 1/4 of 1% (16 million) of the world’s population.

Jewish Vocabulary
This month’s vocabulary word is the name of the most devastating fighting/self-defense disciplines known to man! It is taught to each member of the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) in basic training! It is:
